Conference on New Approaches to Banking Supervision
The Risk Management Lab held a major conference on New Approaches to Banking Supervision on November 3rd 2006.
The conference explored rules versus risk-based approaches to regulation together with the implications for banking supervision of pillars 2 and 3 of the Basel II Accord. The aim of the conference was to compare approaches employed in different jurisdictions and engage in a high level policy discussion of the merits and demerits of risk based versus rules-based approaches. Sir Callum McCarthy, Head of the Financial Services Authority made an opening address and the conference concluded with a high profile panel session.
