Event details
You are invited to 'Economic policy in a time of plague and war – debt, taxes and spending in the UK', a presentation by Professor David Miles on Monday 9 May 2022. The event will be held in CAGB 200 and CAGB Foyer for the drinks reception after the event.
Professor David Miles was appointed to the Budget Responsibility Committee of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) in December 2021. The three members of that committee are responsible for presenting an assessment of the economic and fiscal outlook which is used by the government in its setting of economic policy. David takes the lead at the OBR on economic issues in its independent analysis of the outlook and how the stock of government deficits and debt may evolve.
He will describe the OBR’s latest assessment of the outlook, made at the time of the Chancellors recent policy decisions and in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He will discuss the role of the OBR and its interaction with the government and with Parliament.
The event is on 9 May 2022, City and Guilds Building Lecture Theatre 200 and Foyer. Please ask at main reception if unsure.
