We have invited Dr. Lorenzo Massa from Aalborg University Business School in Denmark and a Member of the Expert Network for Innovation at the World Economic Forum, who will share his insights on how to think about business model innovation in regard to the transformations catalyzed by advances in digital technologies.
Digital Transformation, the transformation catalyzed by advances in digital technologies, is interesting, among other things, because it opens up new opportunities to meet customer needs in radical new ways which can become sources of above-average returns and, in some cases, have the potential to disrupt existing industries. A corollary is that existing companies often have to rethink their existing business models. Both for capturing new opportunities and for reacting to new competition. Why is that so many companies seem to agree that they should innovate their business models? What do managers mean by that? Overall, how to think (before we jump into what to do) about business model innovation in regard to digital transformation?
