We would like to invite you to our next Imperial DigiTalk on 1 June at 16.00 BST. Our guest speaker will be Professor Shaun West and the topic will be The Design of SMART Services in a World of People, Processes and Things.
In this DigiTalk, Professor Shaun West will introduce the digital twin concept, a technological concept that can support new value propositions via the creation of smart twins and smart services, and explore successful cases.
The digital twin is a technology that supports collaboration on different levels and provides decisions-support for operational, tactical, or strategic business questions. It can help the translation of technical problems to business consequences. The approach to be presented by Professor West has been developed from over twenty use cases in a multi-partner project and is supported by Innosuisse. Professor West will also provide insights into how firms can develop smart twins.
Shaun West gained a PhD from Imperial College London before working for over 25 years in several industrial services businesses. After studying at HEC (Paris) for an MBA, he moved to GE Energy Services, modelling and negotiating long-term service agreements. At Sulzer, he drafted the strategy that led to the service division tripling in size over ten years and executed part of the strategy by acquiring a 220M CHF service business.
Now at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, he is Professor of Product-Service System Innovation. His research focuses on supporting industrial firms to develop and deliver new services and service-friendly business models. He is a member of the advisory board for the ASAP Service Management Forum and a member of the Swiss Alliance of Data-Intensive Services.
