Lecture by Alex Brazier

The Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis is hosting a lecture on Thursday 1st February by Alex Brazier, who is currently Executive Director, Financial Stability and Risk at the Bank of England.
Alex Brazier is delighted to be joining us at the Imperial Business School, and looks forward to debating topical issues related to financial markets and the UK’s financial stability.
In this speech, Alex will discuss recent developments in UK and global financial markets. He will also discuss the ongoing work of the Bank of England to build the resilience of the financial system to these and other risks
Alex Brazier was appointed Executive Director, Financial Stability Strategy and Risk (FSSR) with effect from 16 March 2015. In addition to being a member of the Financial Policy Committee (FPC), Alex’s key responsibilities include facilitating the effective operation of the FPC, assessment of risks to UK financial stability and overseeing staff analysis of both stress testing and the strategy for the use of macro-prudential tools. Alex joined the Bank of England in 2001 as an economist, and has held a variety of increasingly senior positions over the course of his career, most recently as Principal Private Secretary to the Governor since November 2011. Prior to that, Alex served as Manager of the Bank’s UK Forecasting Team from 2008-2011, as Economic Assistant and Speechwriter to the Governor from 2005-2008, and as a UK Economic Analyst in the Bank’s Monetary Analysis Directorate from 2001-2005.
