Extended term
Enhanced flexibility for your programme
We are pleased to offer an optional extended term for our on-campus Master’s programmes and Full-Time MBA programme. This flexible option will allow you to extend your programme duration to 16 months, giving you the opportunity to commit to a longer Work Placement or Global Exchange (for some programmes).
Extending your term will give you the opportunity to:
- Access more Work Placement opportunities, including longer summer internships in the UK and worldwide, as many employers offer longer internship durations;
- Gain deeper work experience credentials and boost your marketability with potential future employers through an Extended Work Placement.
- Undertake an Extended Global Exchange and gain an enhanced international study experience at one of Imperial’s partner schools (not available on all programmes)
- Earn additional credits, which may be appealing to employers in Europe who value a higher number of ECTS.
Please note that the Extended Global Exchange is only available to students studying MSc in Management (MiM) and the Full-Time MBA. Students on these programmes can choose between an Extended Work Placement or Extended Global Exchange.
If you are interested in the extended term, you will need to discuss this with your programme team once you have started your studies and gain approval. Read our FAQs for more information about how to apply for the extended term, additional fees, visa requirements and more.
Fees
There is an additional £1,500 fee for the extended term to be paid upon confirmation of the extended term transfer (typically around May or June.) You should also budget for any additional travel and living expenses, as well as visa extension charges if you need to extend your study visa.
