Prof Marisa Miraldo, Prof Carol Propper and Dr Chris Rose are among the authors of a study looking at how senior doctors influence the adoption of new procedures such as keyhole surgery for colorectal cancer.  The study examined the role of highly influential surgeons, their professional networks, and how peer groups can affect the take up of new techniques.

The authors found that if the consultants with the most influence on their co-workers had been trained in the new techniques then take-up would have been 20% more than had been achieved over seven years.

The research is profiled on LinkedIn here

The results of the study are published in Management Science here.
