The Employer Relations Team
Connecting with Employers
Our Employer Relations team is responsible for building and developing sustainable ongoing relationships with employers across the world that our students aspire to work for. We pride ourselves on offering a first-class service to our corporate contacts, students and alumni, and hosts a number of events to help students gain the commercial awareness they will require to be successful through the assessment process and beyond.
The Employer Relations team regular meet with industry representatives to understand their business and their vacancies to share with students on a day-to-day basis, via our own jobs board and regular student communications.
We work alongside alumni and employer representatives from a range of global organisations to small and medium sized firms and start ups including Amazon, Uber, Johnson and Johnson, Bain, KPMG, Ernst and Young (EY), Morgan Stanley, LVMH and L’Oreal.
As part of your programme we host notable guest lectures from leading companies to give you industry insight and a perspective into the key challenges facing the business world today.
We have established partnerships with London-based and international organisations, offering you the opportunity to connect and network with some of the most forward-thinking companies in the world.
We hold a number of jobs fairs such as the Consulting & Finance and Corporate & Technology Careers fairs providing students the opportunity to network with representatives from companies in your chosen sector to gain further insight into their organisation.
Our recruitment presentations offer you the chance to meet top companies from a variety of sectors, to hear about opportunities within their organisations and what they look for when recruiting graduates.
The Business School supports a number of student-led Business School Clubs which aim to bring together MBA and MSc students with similar areas of career interest and/or professional backgrounds.
All of our clubs are organised by students and run a number of events throughout the year which give opportunities to:
- Meet other Business School students with similar interests
- Learn from and network with alumni and other professionals
- Build links with relevant employers in the sector
- Learn more about roles available and the skills needed in the industry and many more.
There are clubs aligned to regions and core industry sectors, as well as clubs to promote the visibility of underrepresented groups.
If you have aspirations to work in a specific sector, the Careers team organise industry-focused events early in the year, to provide you with deeper knowledge and commercial awareness. Each year we hold specific events early in the term focusing on the investment banking sector (mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory and capital markets), Sales & Trading and Asset Management and also a consulting focused event. Throughout the year, our events consist of practice interview sessions, workshops and drop-in career sessions, as well as invaluable networking opportunities with several industry experts and alumni from top firms such as Deutsche Bank, Jefferies, Amazon, Citibank, Google, LVMH, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs.
The team organises a large number of recruitment events on campus, especially during September, October and November. These include recruitment presentations, case study interview practice and other skills workshops. Alongside on campus activities we work with companies to deliver a number of office visits and activities. These events will be publicised via Symplicity, the Hub and our weekly Careers Bulletin.
As well as running the Careers Fair across the sectors in September, we also host a number of industry panels in the spring. These panels are a great way to increase your commercial awareness - a key element to being successful at interview and assessment centres. Last year we saw rep representatives from a wide range of industries including participants from Diageo, LEK Consulting, Mashable, Goldman Sachs, BBC, Bain & Co, exploring such topics as Innovation, Digital Marketing, The Future of Consulting, and Demystifying Data.
All partner companies are encouraged to post their opportunities – projects, internships and permanent positions – on our online Jobs Board. (Only current students and alumni with active Symplicity logins can use the Jobs Board).
