Why did you decide to study MSc Finance & Accounting at Imperial College Business School?

The main reason that I chose Imperial College Business School is because of the quantitative knowledge it offers to its students. Throughout my undergraduate study, I felt as though I lacked exposure and knowledge on the quantitative and data-related aspects of the field. After looking into the modules and lecturers Imperial offers, I believed I could enhance myself, increase my competitiveness in the job market, and learn new skills.

Did you receive a scholarship?

I received theImperial Excellence Scholarship Award, which offered me £10,000 as a tuition fee deduction. I would recommend future potential scholarship applicants to be themselves and be honest especially when it comes to writing personal statements and the interview. This is when your uniqueness will shine through most, helping you stand out among other applicants with similar backgrounds.

What are you enjoying learning about the most?

My favourite module so far is Investment Portfolio Management, as the lecturer is very experienced in the field, sharing his past experience working in investment banking and thus providing us with some very engaging lectures and unique insights.

How would you describe your cohort at Imperial?

My cohort is a talented group of individuals who are outgoing, active, friendly and also very helpful.

"My cohort is a talented group of individuals who are outgoing, active, friendly and also very helpful."

Which workshops, events or guest lectures at the school have been useful in developing your skills and knowledge?

The compulsory career workshop that all students attend was the most useful for me. We got the chance to talk to people who are experienced and the workshop was structured more like a chat, sharing updates about recent events and ask for any kind of help if needed.

Have you had opportunities to work and socialise with students across programmes within the Business School?

As part of my role as Student Ambassador, I was able to attend the Student Leadership Day where I had the opportunity to meet and network with students from other programmes across the Business School.

What are your future career goals?

Generally speaking, my future goal is to excel in whatever I am doing. I do not like to restrict myself to a certain path but remain open to all possibilities, take up any opportunities given, explore them and excel in them.

Do you think studying in a central location such as London is beneficial for networking and career opportunities?

Definitely yes. It is easy for students to commute for interviews, and coffee chat with professionals. Also, the College arranges several trips that give students the chance to visit high-profile companies in different sectors all over the city

If you had to move to London for the programme, where did you decide to live?

I decided to live in Kensington itself as it is safe and near to campus. I would recommend doing more research of the area you’re looking at, taking into account factors such as commuting hours, the neighbourhood, whether the area has a good internet provider etc. Also, try to arrange a physical viewing of the house if this is possible.
