My role primarily focused on performance management, governance, and remuneration matters at the board level for clients in the financial sector, pension funds, and the oil and gas industry, among others. Additionally, I served as a researcher at the STAR Institute of Simon Fraser University, specialising in organisational design innovation within the realm of new technologies for older adults.
Why did you choose to study MSc International Health Management at Imperial College Business School?
I chose to study at Imperial College Business School because I aimed to transition my career into the healthcare sector and return to Europe after residing in Canada for six years, while remaining in an English-speaking country. The Business School stood out as one of the few institutions offering a Master’s in International Health Management, which included a diverse array of courses to help me explore my interests and strengths.
What are you enjoying learning about the most?
This programme offered an excellent blend of generalist and healthcare-specific courses, which proved particularly valuable for my career transition at that time. What I found most captivating during my time at the Business School was the opportunity to leverage the broader offerings provided by Imperial College London as a whole. This encompassed optional courses from other departments, entrepreneurship programmes, as well as enlightening events and conferences. My experience during my Master’s was enriched by interactions with brilliant students, engaging professors, and guest speakers, fostering an environment for ideation and personal development.
Are you part of any clubs or societies?
I was a member of the Imperial Enterprise Lab's "WE Innovate" programme, which provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with students from various faculties and receive valuable training on launching a new venture. The programme featured speakers from diverse industries and venture capital organisations.
How are you planning to use your Master’s for your future career?
Since completing my programme, I have applied knowledge gained from the healthcare-specific courses offered, such as Health Informatics and Health Economics. I have also tapped into the professional network I established during my time at Imperial.
What advice would you give to someone considering applying for MSc International Health Management?
Recognising that the programme may have evolved since my time there, I would advise prospective students to explore all the opportunities available across the university:
- Be open to initiatives that might take you out of your comfort zone, whether they involve events or joining societies.
- Seek opportunities and guidance from your professors to support your personal and professional development.

The year will pass quickly, but it can be the most enriching year of your life if you choose to make the most of it – it's all up to you!
