What experience did you have prior to studying MSc Management?

I completed my undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida. During that time, I worked in the technology licensing office at an innovation incubator, where I facilitated the transfer of research discoveries from the lab to the market. I also conducted research to identify genes responsible for the autoimmune disease, lupus. After graduating, I joined a fintech company called Fiserv as a Business Analyst for one year before joining Imperial.

Why did you choose to study MSc Management at Imperial College Business School?

I wanted to become more well-rounded both professionally and personally. While I enjoyed my undergraduate studies in the life sciences, I felt that I was missing the core business knowledge necessary to advance in my career. I was attracted to the opportunity to meet and collaborate with some of the most intelligent and diverse individuals globally. Additionally, the location in London was incredibly exciting to me, as there is always something to do here!

What are you enjoying learning about the most?

During the past semester, I took a course called "Emerging Technologies in Marketing," which explored the applications of AI, NFTs, blockchain, and other new technologies in marketing. I found it fascinating to learn about each of these technologies and how they can be implemented in real-world scenarios. Additionally, I enjoy the opportunity to learn from my classmates. Given the diverse nature of our cohort, I am constantly exposed to different cultures and perspectives, which helps me develop a global mindset.

Are you part of any clubs or societies?

I am involved with the FMCG, Luxury, and Retail Club, as well as the Women Mean Business Club. Through these clubs, I have had the opportunity to meet incredible friends and mentors. Both clubs offer networking opportunities and organise exciting events that have allowed me to make the most of my Imperial experience. I appreciate how the clubs invite inspiring industry leaders to give talks and conduct workshops.

"Imperial is a truly diverse community that values everyone's unique characteristics. Don't be afraid to be yourself and showcase your journey in your application!"

How does MSc Management help you stay up to date with evolving industry trends, themes, and challenges in the real world?

MSc Management has motivated me to stay up to date with current trends and challenges in the industry. In one of my projects, we were required to explore the implementation of AI in marketing campaigns. For our capstone project, we are tasked with researching current topics related to digital business, sustainability, mental health, and more. Additionally, the professors ensure that we discuss and share recent, relevant cases and innovations in the field.

How has the career support at the Business School helped you achieve your goals?

My goal is to combine my STEM background with my Master's in Management to pursue a career on the business side of the life sciences industry or in consumer goods, specifically in the cosmetics products sector. The career support team has been immensely helpful in guiding me towards my career goals. They have provided assistance with editing my cover letters and CVs and have connected me with numerous job opportunities. While I have secured a role, which was shared with me by the career support team, I am currently continuing my job search.

What advice would you give to someone considering applying for MSc Management?

Imperial is a truly diverse community that values everyone's unique characteristics. Don't be afraid to be yourself and showcase your journey in your application! Once you get in, make sure to get involved both on and off campus. Imperial offers numerous opportunities, and London itself has so much to offer.
