Why did you decide to study MSc Strategic Marketing at Imperial College Business School?
I believe that MSc Strategic Marketing at Imperial was a great fit for my background in Communications at UCLA and my work experience. The data-based scientific approach of the programme marks the future of business and marketing. I believe by learning the latest information on marketing I will be able to make a true impact in my field.
Did you receive a scholarship?
I received the Imperial Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship helps my family and I with paying tuition as well as helping me network with other scholarship recipients at Imperial.
Which has been your favourite module so far and why?
The module I enjoyed the most so far was Strategic Marketing Management. I enjoyed learning practical tools and models used when managing businesses and their marketing. This module helped me develop my understanding of the symbiotic relationship between marketing and business management through real-life examples and a group work case study.
How would you describe your cohort at Imperial?
The cohort at Imperial is very diverse. Even though we all chose to study the same programme, our areas of interest both professionally and personally are very diverse. The programme brings students from many countries and backgrounds, which creates a very lively and exciting learning environment.
Which workshops, events or guest lectures at the school have been useful in developing your skills and knowledge?
I really enjoyed the guest lecture on green marketing. I believe sustainability is the future of business and marketing strategies must be congruent with this as well. We learned how marketing can become green, instead of greenwashing, to create value for consumers.
What clubs, societies or other activities have you been involved in at Imperial?
I joined the FMCG, Luxury Goods, & Retail and LGBTQ+ and Allies Career Clubs.
What are your future career goals?
I would like to work in a strategic marketing position preferably in the luxury industry. However, after starting the programme I have realised that I am gaining interest in different sectors and industries as well which has broadened my job search to look into consulting positions as well.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about applying for the programme?
I suggest you try and express yourself clearly in explaining what makes you unique. I think it is important to remember that you should not put down what you think is expected from you, but instead what you believe makes you uniquely you. Do not be afraid to be creative in explaining what you think is important to know about you.
