“I am thoroughly enjoying the diverse range of subjects and insights that the Weekend MBA programme offers. If I had to pinpoint the area, I am enjoying learning about the most, it would be the intersection of business strategy and innovation. Exploring how organisations can adapt, evolve, and thrive in a rapidly changing business landscape is truly fascinating to me.”

What was your experience prior to studying this programme?

Prior to the Weekend MBA programme, my journey has been marked by a passion for entrepreneurship and a relentless pursuit of making a significant impact through my professional career. Since my undergraduate in Nigeria, I have explored several entrepreneurial ventures, all driven by a desire to solve big problems and meet pressing needs. My breakthrough while at the university came when I proposed outsourcing souvenir production for graduating students at my university, which led to a contract worth over $135,000. This project became the foundation of my entrepreneurial career, offering procurement, supply chain and general professional services to various organizations.

After University, I also co-founded a social enterprise focused on empowering African graduates in the job market. Over a few years, we impacted more than 18,000 graduates by leveraging technology to enhance their interview skills, CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and overall job readiness. While exploring my entrepreneurial passion, I also maintained a high-performing career as a consultant and delivery expert. First at Accenture and later at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). At CHAI, I played a pivotal role in establishing the Ghana office, expanding it to 13 employees, securing grants, and overseeing critical project deliveries.

During my seven-year journey post-graduation, I straddled the realms of business and technology, driving innovation and transformation for clients as a consultant/delivery expert. This experience deepened my understanding of the intersection between technology and business and fuelled my interest in the future of digital and its transformative potential.

Today, I wort at EY UK&I where I help clients solve their biggest technology and digital-related challenges, focusing on complex, organization-wide transformations. This exposure has positioned me at the forefront of the ever-evolving technology landscape, aligning with my aspirations to transform the world as a business leader.

What are you enjoying learning about the most?

I am thoroughly enjoying the diverse range of subjects and insights that the Weekend MBA programme offers. If I had to pinpoint the area, I am enjoying learning about the most, it would be the intersection of business strategy and innovation. Exploring how organisations can adapt, evolve, and thrive in a rapidly changing business landscape is truly fascinating to me.

Understanding how businesses can effectively navigate disruptive technologies, embrace digital transformation, and leverage emerging trends is crucial in today's dynamic environment. I find it exhilarating to delve into case studies, analyse successful strategies, and explore innovative approaches that have driven companies to stay ahead of the curve.

In addition, I am very excited by the Entrepreneurial Journey module which is an elective offered to all MBA students at Imperial. The module helps students gain an essential blend of skills to aid a creative mindset, business acumen, and an innovative approach to turn the spark of an idea into a marketable proposition that investors or a corporate will want to back.

Ultimately, with the programme, I have been equipped to contribute meaningfully to my organisation and drive positive change in the ever-evolving business world. I have also been given the tools and skills to become a high performing business leader.

How are you planning to use your MBA for your future career?

My overarching goal is to assume a leadership role where I can make a meaningful impact and drive positive change in the business world. I believe my MBA will serve as a springboard for this goal by equipping me with a solid foundation in business fundamentals, strategic thinking, and decision-making. The programme has also provided me with a comprehensive understanding of global business dynamics and the intricacies of operating in diverse cultural contexts.

Additionally, with my passion for entrepreneurship, the MBA arms me with knowledge and skills to branch out into new ventures, leveraging my entrepreneurial spirit and emerging technologies to develop innovative solutions that address market gaps and create value for customers.

Furthermore, I believe in the power of networking and continuous learning. Throughout my MBA programme, I have actively built relationships with likeminded professionals, entrepreneurs, and faculty. I plan to leverage these connections and engage in lifelong learning through events, conferences, and professional development programs to stay at the forefront of business trends to maintain a competitive edge in my career.

Whether in consulting, international business, entrepreneurship, or continuous learning, I am committed to making a significant impact and driving positive change in the business world, leveraging my MBA to its fullest potential.

How has the career support at the Business School helped you achieve your goals?

From CV reviews, executive coaching, inspiring talks from leaders and experts to interview preparation, the career service have provided exceptional support every step of the way. The dedicated team has been instrumental in providing personalised guidance, organising networking events, and equipping me with the necessary tools and confidence to embark on a successful professional journey.

During my MBA I got promoted at my job and a lot of my cohort experience a job, role or career change in the first year of the weekend MBA which is mind blowing!

Are you part of any clubs or societies?

I have been honoured to serve as a Career Leader in my cohort and also the Vice President of Education Technology for the Dean’s Student Advisory Board. These leadership roles have allowed me to actively contribute to the development and success of my fellow students. It has also enriched my MBA experience by providing me with opportunities to lead, collaborate, and make a positive impact on my peers' educational and career journeys.

Furthermore, I am an active member of the vibrant Black in Business club, which has truly enriched my MBA experience. This community of like-minded individuals, who share a similar cultural background, has been instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Through this club, I have had the privilege of connecting with inspiring leaders who have generously shared their wisdom and experiences, providing invaluable mentorship opportunities.

How does the programme help you stay up to date with evolving industry trends, themes and challenges in the real world?

The rigorous coursework, industry connections, experiential learning opportunities, collaboration with peers, and access to research resources are just a few ways the MBA has helped me stay up to date with the real world. The programme offers cutting-edge curriculum, guest lectures, and networking events to provide insights into current trends.
