“Imperial’s outstanding reputation and the promising career prospects post-MBA were decisive factors for me. I am confident in the direction this programme will steer my career, thanks to the solid foundation and the expansive network Imperial offers. ”

What was your career experience prior to studying this programme?

Before enrolling in the Weekend MBA programme, I had accumulated a decade of experience as a qualified accountant, starting my career at Fortune Oil where I became ACCA certified. During the Covid period, I joined Osome, an AI-powered startup dedicated to digitalising corporate management.

Why did you choose to study a Weekend MBA at Imperial College Business School?

Having completed my undergraduate degree at Imperial, I was eager to return and experience the dynamic environment of the Business School.

The structure of the Weekend MBA perfectly aligns with my professional commitments, allowing me to maintain my job while engaging with my cohort on a monthly basis. This format has not only been a time saver but has also greatly enriched my educational experience, providing a balanced blend of in-person and independent learning.

What are you enjoying learning about?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the diverse range of modules offered. Led by experienced professors, they are always interactive and engaging. I have found particular interest in the Strategy module, which aligns closely with the career path I wish to pursue at my current company. This module has provided me with a clear understanding of strategic operations, offering practical, digestible information that I can directly apply to my work.

The AI Venture module has been particularly illuminating. Designed to cater to students from all backgrounds, this module provides a comprehensive overview of AI's historical context and dives into contemporary trends and applications. It mixes business students with computer science students, effectively bridging the gap and facilitating innovation for the future.

How did your Global Exchange experience enhance your studies?

I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Global Exchange at Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious institutions in China. This experience allowed me to study with renowned professors and gain a deep understanding of the Chinese capital market, including its challenges, characteristics, and opportunities.

This exchange not only enhanced my MBA experience but has also had a profound impact on my professional development. The insights gained are now instrumental as I explore potential strategies for my company's expansion into China.

Please tell us about the career support you've received as a student.

The career support at Imperial College Business School was instrumental when I reached a crossroads in my career during the first year of the Weekend MBA.

Consulting with a career advisor from Imperial provided me with fresh insights and guidance, helping me to make an informed decision and align my career aspirations with the evolving opportunities within my company.

How has the programme helped you stay on top of evolving industry trends?

The Capstone project has provided a hands-on opportunity to tackle actual business challenges in real companies under expert guidance. This practical exposure has not only enriched my learning but has also equipped me with the skills necessary to address complex problems effectively in my professional life.

Additionally, the Global Experience Week in Brazil has been invaluable for gaining a broader understanding of diverse business environments. This week-long international exposure involves engaging with local companies and business leaders and participating in workshops that discuss global market dynamics. It has broadened my perspective and enhanced my ability to navigate and operate in international markets, making me a more versatile and adaptable professional.

How are you planning on using your MBA in your future career?

Pursuing an MBA at Imperial College Business School is a strategic step towards expanding my influence and expertise within the accounting and tech industries. My primary goal is to leverage the advanced managerial skills and cutting-edge technological insights from the programme to enhance my leadership within my current company and beyond.

Looking ahead, the entrepreneurial skills I’ve honed during my MBA will be crucial for launching a startup alongside my current job. I aim to establish a business that harnesses technology to deliver innovative solutions.

With the support of Imperial College London’s extensive network, finding the right partners will be within reach.

What advice would you give to someone considering studying a Weekend MBA at Imperial?

If you’re considering applying for Imperial's Weekend MBA programme, my advice is to fully embrace the opportunity.
