Academic year 2020/21

Imperial College London will be open in the academic year 2020/21 with courses being delivered using a mix of online and in-person teaching, depending on the course. We will be in touch with all the information you need closer to the start of term, but in the meantime you can find further details and useful links below.

Please familiarise yourself with the College Safety Guidance before you arrive and ensure you follow it to keep yourself and others safe.

Please note that students can visit our campuses only if there is a valid reason to be there. The key reasons to be on campus are summarised on the COVID-19 guidance pages.

Year groups have been allocated specific days on which they can come to the department to ensure a maximum capacity of 25% at any one time:

  • Monday – First years
  • Tuesday – Second years
  • Wednesday – MSc students
  • Thursday – Third years
  • Friday – Fourth years

If it isn’t your allocated day then you must not enter the department.

New student information

For the latest information please see the COVID-19 updates and guidance page. You'll find specific information on the Chemical Engineering course programme details page for new and returning students.

Contact Andreas Kogelbauer (Director of Course Operations) or Margaret Gee (Undergraduate Administrator) if you have further questions.

Your course will begin on schedule in the Autumn and we plan to reopen our campuses. Your teaching will be a combination of on-campus (in-person) and remote (online) learning and research opportunities. We call this ‘multi-mode’ delivery. Depending on official government guidance throughout the entirety of next academic year, the balance in the ‘multi-mode’ offering may be subject to change. We will do our best to provide you increased on-campus teaching and research activities as we progress throughout the year.

We are looking forward to seeing you in person, if travel and visa arrangements allow. If you can’t travel to campus in time for the start of the academic year, you should immediately contact the Department using the details in the ‘Further information’ section below.

For more information about multi-mode delivery and the steps we’ll be taking to keep you safe on campus if you are able to join us, please see our COVID-19 information for applicants and offer holders and MSc Chemical Engineering offer holders pages.
