Development of a Smart Production System for Forming High-Performance Vehicle Components from Recycled Materials

Abstract
This project, motivated by net zero and circular economy targets, seeks to address the challenges in adopting recycled materials for forming high-performance vehicle components, through collaboration with industrial partners.

We aim to develop a smart production system integrating digital twin technology with inline sensing and tuning, to enable real-time optimisation of process settings according to material property variations.

The key research challenge is to develop the digital twin as an innovative high-fidelity inline model by pioneering cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and advanced physics-based material and process modelling.

This project presents an exciting opportunity for those interested in interdisciplinary research and delivering significant impact on sustainability.
