Bioresorbable Micro-Batteries for Implantable Bioelectronic Interfaces
Abstract
This project seeks to develop bioresorbable micro-batteries that provide reliable, short-term power for implantable bioelectronic devices, safely degrading in the body to eliminate the need for removal surgeries. With a focus on advanced material design and innovative battery configurations, this research aims to meet the energy demands of temporary medical applications, such as post-surgical monitoring and targeted drug delivery. This sustainable approach aligns with the Dyson School of Design Engineering’s mission to advance healthcare technology and smart futures, setting a new standard in bio-compatible, transient power sources that support patient-centered, environmentally conscious healthcare.
