If you are using a wired connection on the college network, do the following:

• Go to http://icis.imperial.ac.uk
• Enter your Imperial username and password and click OK

If you are using any other kind of connection (e.g. Imperial-WPA; home network) visit our Access to ICIS (remote working) web page. 

Your ICIS username and password are the same as your Imperial College London username and password.

ICIS and OSS use Java Plugin technology because of the comprehensive, complex professional forms it provides. We use a certificate from a reliable security provider, that prompts users of ICIS/OSS professional forms with the following message when launching a form:

Do you want to run this application?

The following details will be also displayed on the warning form:
Name: Oracle E-Business Suite
Publisher: Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine
Location: this can vary, but for ICIS users, this will be http://icisprd.ad.ic.ac.uk:8400 and http://ossprd.ad.ic.ac.uk:8400/ for OSS

When you see this message, we advise you to tick the Do not show this again for apps from this publisher and location above box. If you use both ICIS and OSS, do this in both applications on every machine you use them on.

Click on the Run button to proceed further to open the Java forms for ICIS/OSS.

Log a request in ASK to report this fault.

This results from a compatibility issue between Internet Explorer and the code the supplier uses to write the forms. You can solve this by setting ICIS and Imperial webpages to run in compatibility mode.

To turn on compatibility mode in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

• Open Internet Explorer
• Press the Alt key to display the Menu bar (or right–click the Address bar and then select Menu bar)
• Tap or click Tools and then tap or click Compatibility View settings
• Add imperial.ac.uk and ic.ac.uk to the list of websites
• Tick the box for Display intranet sites in Compatibility View
• Click Close

To clear your Java cache for ICIS, follow these steps:

• Click on the Windows Start button in your desktop toolbar
• Click Control Panel
• Select Java
• Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files
• Delete files

It's probably because you're using an incompatible browser and / or a Mac. ICIS has only limited functionality on Apple Macintosh computers,  and works only with the following browsers: 

Windows: Use Firefox ESR or Internet Explorer, not Google Chrome
Mac OS: Use Firefox ESR, not Google Chrome

If you are a Mac user and wish to raise a request through ICIS Authorisation, you have two options:

• Obtain temporary access to a College Windows machine to raise the request
• Check the ICIS Approvers list (request it from sys.admin@imperial.ac.uk) and contact the relevant person for your department to ask them to raise the request for you

Raise a request in ASK and include the reference number of the prior request you wish to cancel. ICT support staff will pass your query to the ICIS Authorisation Support team.

If you are experiencing this issue, it's probably because one of the approval steps has timed out. Raise a request in ASK stating your problem and the Service Desk specialists will pass your query to the ICIS Authorisation Support team.

Attempting to launch two ICIS form sessions at the same time using different browsers will not work.

This is due to current technological limitations in ICIS. If you try to run two form sessions in different browsers at the same time, the following message appears on the active session:

If you click Yes, the new session will replace the old one. Choosing No or Cancel will keep the old form session running in the browser you initiated it in.

Only one instance of the Forms application will run on a given browser at any time. For example, using Java Web Start to launch the Forms application in Internet Explorer will start a single Forms session. If you then use, say, Firefox ESR to launch a Forms link from the same ICIS environment, it will direct the focus of the session to the Forms application you previously launched in Internet Explorer.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

An additional dialog box appears when closing an HTML page as shown in the following screen shot:

Click OK to close the browser window or tab.

Google Chrome

Closing an HTML page leaves a blank tab or window open. This can safely be closed manually. These blank tabs or windows may accumulate as you open/close further pages from the Forms application.

To launch ICIS Java Forms, you first need to download a JNLP file: frmservlet.jnlp, frmservlet (1-n).jnlp). Web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge save these JNLP files in their respective download locations on your PC. They are automatically removed by Java Web Start each successive time you launch the Forms application.

If you haven't launched the downloaded JNLP files, a buildup of JNLP files on the local file system may occur. It's safe to manually remove old JNLP files from your browser's Download folder that weren't used to launch ICIS Forms.
