Install Panopto Personal Recorder

You can download and install the Panopto Personal Recorder on any device providing that you fulfill the following requirements:

To download the installer, you will need Creator access to any folder in Panopto. Please contact your Faculty Learning Technologist or complete and submit the Panopto access request form to get Creator access.
To install, you must have relevant admin permissions for the device. If you are using a college device that you do not have admin permissions to, you should contact the ICT Service Desk for further assistance.

Panopto for Windows: Windows 7 and above (32 and 64 bit)
OR
Panopto for Mac: OSX 10.8 and above

Software Requirements

A supported browser (Firefox 14.01 and above, Google Chrome 5.1.2 and above, IE 8+)
Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 or above
OR
Apple Keynote 2006 and above

For College machines you will need admin access in order to install the Personal Recorder. Please contact the ICT Service Desk who can advise further.

How to install and set up

Go to imperial.cloud.panopto.eu and enter your College username and password
Click the Download Panopto button in the top right hand corner of the screen
To start downloading click on Download Panopto. Panopto automatically determines the appropriate Personal Recorder for the device you are using (Windows 32/64-bit or Mac OS) and displays this information under the download button. If this information is incorrect, or you want to download a different recorder, select Click here for other download options
Locate the downloaded Recorder setup file on your machine. It will be called PanoptoRecorder.exe (Windows) or PanoptoRecorder.app (Mac).
Click on the PanoptoRecorder.exe (Windows) or PanoptoRecorder.app (Mac) file to launch it.
Choose a destination folder for the installation.
Enter imperial.cloud.panopto.eu in the Panopto Web Server field and click Next.
Click Install to begin the installation.

Set up the Panopto Personal Recorder

There will be a shortcut created on your desktop called Panopto.exe. Select this to run the Panopto Personal Recorder, follow these steps:

Double click on the Panopto icon on your desktop to launch the software.
Click on the Login with ic.ac.uk button.
Enter your College username and password and click Login.

Audio visual requirements

Most lecture theatres at Imperial College London are already set up with the equipment required for you to use Panopto, however, we do not provide equipment for personal recording. You will need a computer, webcam and microphone.

You can use your computer's built in webcam if it has one. If not, you can use an external webcam, these usually come with their own installation guide and we recommend you follow the instructions stated.
Use your computer's built in microphone or the built in microphone on your webcam, if either device has one. If your computer and webcam do not have built in microphones, you must connect an external microphone, even if you do not intend to use sound (you can mute it). Follow the installation guide for your microphone to install.
