New Programmes in Learning and Teaching
CASLAT was the Imperial College Certificate of Advanced Study in Learning and Teaching, which was first offered in 2001. The CASLAT programme has recently been reviewed and in line with new College guidelines on Master's courses, the Educational Development Unit (EDU) is developing new Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Master's in Learning and Teaching courses. This three-stage approach is firmly based in the participants' teaching practice. The first stage is the new Postgraduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching (PGC ULT). This flexible practice based course will provide support for the participants' development as reflective practitioners. Participants can choose if they wish to continue their study with the Diploma which will add depth and facilitate more critical engagement with educational literature and theory in the participants' disciplinary context. The final stage adds information on educational research methodologies and prepares participants for a dissertation project. Completing this last stage leads to the full Master's in University Learning and Teaching (MEd ULT). This will provide Imperial staff with an improved, more integrated programme which will be open to applicants from within College once it has been approved by Senate, which is expected to be in 2011. Click here to read more.

If you are interested in applying for the PGC ULT, please complete the expression of interest form. We will contact you to discuss your application as soon as the course has been approved.
