AB - This paper describes a phase model of an induction motor based on TransmissionLine Modelling technique. Its main advantage compared to the existing TLM dq model is the possibility of using a small part of the stator selfinductance of each pahase as a link model to connect the motor to external sources and drives. Unlike the dq model, the phase model does not therefore require any additional components for connection purposes. The application of the phase model is demonstrated by and example representing a traction drive ciruit. Identical simulation results to those obtained from a different study based on a dq model are derived. Copyright © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
