Your personal tutor is there to support you in your personal, general academic, and professional development. Through regular contact and the establishment of a supportive and professional relationship, the Personal Tutors maintain an overview of their tutees’ academic progress, development and wellbeing.

PGR Senior Tutor

As Senior Tutor for Postgraduate Research (PGR), Dr Michel-Alexandre Cardin has overall responsibility for the academic and pastoral care of postgraduate students and can guide and support students with problems or queries. A message from Dr Michel-Alexandre Cardin: 

I am your first point of contact should anything occur in terms of physical or mental health, incident, relationship with your supervisor, career decisions, or any other issues you wish to discuss.

My role is primarily to point you to the right resources at Imperial – and there are many to support your journey – though I am also here if you wish to get a different perspective on a particular situation.

If I can provide advice, I will, if not, I will refer to the right professional.

My office is in the Royal College of Science, room 1M03. Do not hesitate to contact me via email or Teams, or just drop by my office.

I am usually around, so come and knock should there be anything you wish to discuss. If not, please drop me a note via Teams or email so we can arrange a time to chat as soon as possible.Do not wait until things are getting worst. When they start getting uncomfortable, this is when you should contact me.

PGT Senior Tutor

Dr Chandramohan George is the Senior Tutor for Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students, providing academic and pastoral support for all MSc and MRes programmes. Whether you need advice, help with a challenge, or a second opinion, Dr George is available to offer guidance and support.

Dr Lorraine Craig

Faculty Senior Tutors have responsibility for ensuring the delivery of consistent, high quality support for students in their personal, general academic and professional development.  Working with and supporting Personal Tutors and Senior Tutors, they ensure that support systems are effective, that training is appropriate and that College policies in student support are implemented.  In addition, each Faculty Senior Tutor provides support to their senior tutors and directly to students who have more complex concerns or situations.

Nicholas Moult

Nick is responsible for student administration of postgraduate research programmes and is the contact point for queries from prospective postgraduate research students, along with being able to advise on research degree administrative processes such as milestones and completion.

Matthew J Shotliff

Matthew Shotliff oversees the Teaching Office for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. He is the first point of contact for any queries related to teaching delivery, assessments, and academic progress, and can provide guidance on programme requirements and processes.

Mental Health First Aiders will provide you with a safe space to start a confidential conversation about your mental health and signpost you to the most appropriate support. Our Mental Health First Aiders are:Ingrid Logan , Freddie Page , Nicholas Moult , Natalia Goehring , Talya  Porat , Monika K Delczyk , Rebecca Mitchell , Hala Khateeb , Jacklyn Ramasaran. 

The Departmental Disability Officer (PGT), Siobhan Dillon Espinosa is your first point of contact if there is anything about you as a person or your health such as disabilities and learning differences due to which you may benefit from support arrangements around factors like examinations.
