The AI Literacy Toolkit (2023) - Freya Smith

The AI Literacy Toolkit is a card-based AI literacy toolkit to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration between AI practitioners and non-technical audiences. The card set covers 4 key aspects of AI. Each card has two faces to provide information and encourage divergent thinking. The use of the toolkit led to a statistically significant increase in critical feedback and breadth of AI-related questions from study participants. The use of the toolkit in an AI co-design workshop led to the development of a shared vision and common ground between AI-practitioners and non-technical participants. The toolkit fostered meaningful participation of non-technical audiences in co-designing AI systems with practitioners.

The VSCA Toolkit (2023) - Malak Sadek

The Value-Sensitive Conversational Agent (VSCA) Toolkit aims to help teams building conversational agents to align their products with human values by involving different stakeholders throughout the process and using collaborative design techniques. The toolkit was developed as part of Malak's PhD project using a combination of systematic literature reviews and semi-structured interviews with industry professionals. Having professionals use the toolkit led to a statistically significant increase in the overall value-sensitivity of the conversational agents they created, achieving better alignment with their intended values and better alignment with end users' values. Using the toolkit also led to more effective processes for understanding stakeholders values and converting those into technical requirement
