Development of AI approached for automatic customisation of medical devices
Abstract
Due to the uniquely irregular anatomy of each individual creating effective medical devices (e.g. joint implants, surgical guides) from standard sizes is challenging, often resulting in non-optimal devices being employed. This project will develop novel computer vision approaches to image analysis of patient anatomy. The student will develop novel AI approaches to automatically process patient data (e.g. biometric, medical imaging), these advances will then be integrated into a computer driven automated design pipeline for customised medical device designs ready for manufacture.
