New compulsory module (UG or MSc)
If you are proposing adding a new compulsory module to your MSc programme, the process is the same as new elective module but this has to be submitted as a major modification. The deadline for submission of major modifications is mid-January.
Changes to existing modules fall into two categories: major modifications and minor modifications
Major | Minor |
---|---|
add a compulsory module to a programme | add an elective module to a programme |
remove a compulsory or elective module from a programme | change the assessment of a module |
change the learning outcomes of a compulsory module | change the content of a module w/o changing LOs |
change the overall study hours and ECTS of a module | change the title of a module |
change the study hours w/o changing ECTS
|
Major modifications
These are considered by the Programmes Committee in mid-February. Details should be sent to DTC for review by mid-January.
Major modifications include making changes to the Learning Outcomes. If your module is compulsory for a MSc course, any change to learning outcomes would be major modification.
The Education Office will contact you in November to ask if you plan to make any changes to a compulsory module.
Minor modifications
You will be asked to review your module specification in March. If you wish to make any changes you must
* amend the module specification (from Module specifications Team)
* complete a module modification form
return it to the Education Manger by end April.
The proposed changes will be reviewed by DTC in May. You may be asked to come to DTC to explain the rationale behind the changes.
Consultation with students and external examiner
After May DTC, the Education Manager will circulate details of all proposed changes to a programme to undergraduate students, MSc students, and external examiners for their feedback
Details of new module are submitted to College as part of minor modifications process at end July.
