Please ensure you read the Registry document which sets out Instructions to Candidates for Examination, and the following important instructions for students sitting examinations in EEE / EIE.

  • You must attend 15 minutes before each exam is due to start.
  • The examination timetable will be published by the Exams Team, so please mark the dates and times of your exams in your calendar as soon as you receive it. The exam rooms are to be confirmed at a later date.
  • Examinations set by the Business School, Humanities Department and Dept of Computing may be held in different buildings.  Please check appropriate department's exam timetable for details.
  • For exams held in EEE, a seating plan will be posted each day on Level 2 and Level 4 showing where you should sit. The seating plans are posted one hour before the start of each exam.
  • Please check your seat number before you enter the exam room. Once you take your seat, please make sure the information on the label of your Exam booklet is correct. In particular, please check that the CID is correct to ensure that you are in the correct seat.
  • Candidates may take into any examination normal writing instruments (pens, pencils, rubbers, etc.), slide rules, drawing instruments and colouring materials (pencils or crayons).  Any bag used for carrying such items MUST be transparent. In your own interest, do not use faint ink or pencil.
  • Candidates may bring a bottle of water into the examination but this must be in a transparent bottle only. No food is permitted in any of the examinations.
  • Candidates must bring their College swipe card into each exam and display it on their desk so that it can be inspected by the invigilator. If you have lost your College ID card, please bring another official form of photo ID instead.
  • Candidates may NOT take bags, overcoats, mobile phones, smart watches or electronic equipment of any kind into examination rooms. This will be enforced rigorously.  A cloakroom will be provided - normally room 503 on level 5. Valuables such as wallets and phones can be left in the valuables box at the entrance of examination room. Room 503 will be opened 15 minutes before each exam and will remain locked for the duration of the exam.
  • Examinations are normally CLOSED-BOOK: that is, no written or printed material may be taken into them.  In OPEN-BOOK examinations, the module leader will state which materials candidates may bring to the exam.  Your exam timetable and your lecturer will indicate which exams, if any, are OPEN-BOOK.
  • You must observe silence all the time that you are in the exam room. When you enter the room, you must not start reading the exam paper until instructed by the invigilator.  At the end, you must remain silent and seated while the papers are collected. When you leave the room, you must NOT remove any unused answer books, other exam stationery or calculators from the desk.
  • Any candidates with extra exam arrangements will be contacted by Emma Rainbow.
