Internships
We support and encourage your professional development, and understand that most of you will consider internships during the summer months. There are some administrative information and advice we must provide you.
Term dates & working
Student must be available until the last day of the academic year (26 June 2020), even if their academic commitments for the year have finished.
If you are a Tier 4 Visa holder, you are not allowed to undertake full time work in the UK until after the last day of term. Imperial College will not provide letters to employers allowing you to work more than 20 hours during term time. Third year industrial placement students are permitted to work during term time as the placement is a credited module integral to the degree.
'Convention de Stage Agreements' for European Companies
If the company asks for a Convention de Stage Agreement to be signed, we have our own College Stage agreement which we prefer to sign.
If you have these or any other agreements you wish us to sign, please get it to the Education Office (607) or email e.rainbow@imperial.ac.uk no later than a month before the start of your placement. We may need to check the agreement with central College before we can sign it off and we need enough time to consider your requests carefully.
Travel Insurance
If your internship is overseas and you are claiming ECTS credits for it, you are able to be covered by the College travel insurance, but you must register the trip with College to be insured. Register your trip here.

Work Travel Risk and Safety Resources
You should think about getting your own insurance for personal liability, this is to cover you if you cause damage to third party property or injury to third party.
