Aerospace and vehicles

We look at testing and developing materials for applications in a range of different vehicles. For example, investigating fuel cells as a zero-emission source of power for automotive vehicles, and working with partners worldwide to test and develop new energy technologies. Additionally, we investigate alloys for aerospace applications and research how to extend the lifetimes of alloys. 

Our research explores:

• Environmental degradation of alloys 
• Developing alloys for safer, lower emissions air transport and energy systems 
• Fuel cell systems  as a potential source of power and batteries for energy storage for vehicles
