Research Activities
Engineering design process
We are interested in how a product is developed and realised and how the process by which this is achieved can be improved. Particular areas of interest include: engineering design theory and integrated design; innovation; representational formalism; integrated technology systems and support for capturing and implementing design rationale; data morphing; computational design; entrepreneurship; knowledge management and transfer in product development; intellectual property generation and its transfer into industry.
Creativity and creative methods
Creativity can be viewed as the ability to invent something new of value. We are all implicitly creative and our research is focussed on how our collective and individual creativity can be enhanced. Particular areas of interest include: the nature of the creative process and its application in industry; the generation, incubation and implementation of creative solutions and innovations; effective creative methods and techniques; personality and creativity.
