Course Overview

Building on previous knowledge, this course will enhance your proficiency in practical communication,
enabling you to handle more diverse situations with confidence. The course aims to develop your ability to express more nuanced thoughts and ideas, improve your listening and reading comprehension, and deepen your knowledge of Korean culture.

Through engaging in structured dialogues, authentic reading activities, listening exercises, and culturally immersive scenarios, you will advance your conversational skills in practical contexts including travel, social interactions, workplace communication, and current events.

By the end of this course, you will be capable of effectively participating in a variety of conversational
situations, understanding moderately complex authentic Korean texts, and communicating increasingly clearly in spoken and written forms for everyday purposes.

Required Previous Experience (if any)

You should have completed the imperial after:hours Korean 6 course or have equivalent experience.

Required Reading Material or Special Equipment Needed (if any)

None required.

On completion of this course you will be better prepared to:

  • engage confidently in practical conversations across a wider range of everyday and moderately challenging topics.
  • understand and interpret increasingly complex authentic Korean written and audio materials.
  • compose clear, coherent texts for personal and practical purposes, such as informal emails,
  • write short statements and personal reflections
  • articulate more nuanced opinions and ideas effectively using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.

Teaching and Learning Approach

The teaching and learning approach for this course combines tutor-led instruction, group activities, and independent study supported by individual guidance from the tutor. Classes are conducted face-to-face in a classroom setting and utilise diverse teaching methods, including presentations, multimedia resources, class discussions, and interactive activities. These methods are selected to engage students, accommodate varied learning styles, and support effective understanding of the subject matter.
