Applications for STEM Potential Y10 are now open!

 

This two-year programme aims to support up to 90 students in their Y10 and Y11 studies via lectures, subject specific workshops and a non-residential summer school in Summer 2018.

 

There will be a number of contact days when you are expected to attend scheduled events at Imperial College London– these days will be Masterclasses in Science, Engineering and Maths subjects. In addition, lectures and other university experience taster days will be provided.

 

In summary:

  • Introductory evening for students, parents and teachers
  • Half Term, weekend and Easter workshops to give students a taste of life as a university student and to boost confidence and ability
  • A summer school for all students on the programme
  • Opportunity to attend STEM lectures and other events within Imperial College London

The programme aims to support high achieving, eligible students from backgrounds under-represented in Higher Education. In order for you to apply for the programme you will need to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be in Year 10 from September 2017
  • Be taking your GCSE exams in Summer 2019
  • Have a keen interest in Science and Maths
  • Be considering studying Science and Maths subjects in your post 16 studies
  • Be capable of achieving a minimum of 5A and 3B grades in your GCSE’s including an A in Maths and at least two Sciences and B grade in English Language (or equivalent where new grading system applies).
  • May not have access to additional academic support or advice on your future choices
  • Be willing to travel to Imperial for the scheduled dates of the programme

 
This application will take approximately 15 minutes to fill in and you will also be asked to provide a personal statement of up to 500 words as part of the application.

Your responses will be saved for a week if you choose to complete the form at a later stage but please be aware that for your application to be recorded you must click through to the final question and press the final ‘Next’ button to Submit your responses.

You will be asked to provide details for your teacher and parent/guardian who will be contacted to verify your details and suitability for this course.

Please note that applications will need to be received by 11:59pm on Thursday October 12th 2017. Teacher reference forms will need to be submitted by Thursday October 26th. If a teacher reference is not received, applications will not be considered.

All applicants will be informed whether or not they have been successful with their application by Tuesday 14th November. If you are successful with your application you will be expected to attend an evening event at Imperial College London on Wednesday 29th November.
