Future business models in infrastructure: Learning across industries

Organisers – Lars Frederiksen, Andy Davies
Date/time – 24 June 2009, 1300 – 1830, followed by dinner at The Polish Club.
Location – Ballroom, 58 Princes Gate, Imperial College London, South Kensington Campus, London SW7 2AZ

This half-day workshop at Imperial College London explores the frontiers of business models, strategic partnerships and integrated project teams among clients, consultants and contractors in four key infrastructure industries: water, roads, construction and energy.

A business model concerns the way activities of value creation, value proposition and value capture are organised, incentivised and governed. Also, the notion of a business model encompasses a cogitative view concerned with the general interpretation of your business as well as the business you are in. Yet, business models are dynamic designs where the roles, relations and responsibilities between clients, consultants and contractors constantly change in order to obtain efficiencies and spur and support innovation.

The objective of the workshop is to share current experiences of a few best models for creating and capturing value through delivering complex infrastructure projects across industries but equally important, the workshop aims to explore the future steps toward new and better business models.
The workshop will start with a buffet lunch and will include: a discussion of key challenges; presentation from the four industries (water, roads, construction and energy); a roundtable discussion on future business models in infrastructure; and a lecture by xxxx who will discuss the evolution, structure and importance of contracts in infrastructure. The workshop will close with dinner and drinks next door at The Polish Club.

Places at this workshop are limited and are by invitation only, to confirm your place please contact l.frederiksen@imperial.ac.uk
