Earth from space

The Forum at Imperial College London and The Policy Institute at King’s College London are delighted to invite you to a joint panel event on the topic of:

What does the Biden presidency mean for global climate goals?

President Joe Biden has garnered considerable support for more ambitious climate policy, and re-joining the Paris Agreement and appointing John Kerry as US climate envoy signal that this will be a priority. The new administration will need to work to restore Washington’s influence as it seeks to build more robust global action to address the crisis.

Professor Mary Ryan, Vice-Dean (Research), Faculty of Engineering, and Champion for Transition to Zero Pollution, Imperial College London, will chair the event.

On the panel to discuss the issues will be:

  • Professor Tim Benton, Research Director, Emerging Risks; Director, Energy, Environment and Resources Programme, Chatham House
  • Professor Frans Berkhout, Executive Dean, Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy and Professor of Environment, Society and Climate, King’s College London
  • Alyssa Gilbert, Director of Policy and Translation, Grantham Institute – Climate Change and the Environment, Imperial College London
  • Professor David G. Victor, Senior Fellow – Foreign Policy, Energy Security and Climate Initiative, The Brookings Institution (US think tank)

The event will take place on Tuesday 16 February, from 17.15-18.30 (GMT), on Microsoft Teams (live).

Please register to attend on Eventbrite. You will receive a joining link two days before the event.

I do hope you can join us for what should be an exciting event. We welcome questions for the panel in advance (send to the.forum@imperial.ac.uk) or during the session.
