About this event
Come and meet members of Opening Doors, the largest UK charity for LGBTQ+ people over 50, at this social event to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is loneliness and we would like to take this opportunity to shine a light on isolation and connection in the LGBTQ+ community.
A finger buffet of hot food and a selection of drinks will be provided.
This event is free and open to all staff and students at Imperial College London.

The EDI Centre at Imperial
The EDI Centre is a dedicated team that works to support staff and make Imperial a better place to work by promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We offer guidance, training and support as part of the College’s HR services. We listen and talk to staff across Imperial and work towards mainstreaming EDI. We work with individuals, teams, and departments, providing help and advice.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 (MHAW) will take place from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 May. The theme chosen by Mental Health Foundation for this year is “loneliness”.
Why this theme?
Loneliness affects more and more of us in the UK and has considerably impacted our physical and mental health during the pandemic. Our connection to other people and our community is fundamental to protecting our mental health, and we need to find better ways of tackling the epidemic of loneliness.
The People and Organisational Development (POD) team worked with Imperial colleagues and external consultants to organise a comprehensive programme of events and activities.
