Talk to scientists to learn about blood, blood cells and blood diseases. Meet a patient with Sickle Cell Disease and learn about their story. Learn about the current and future treatments for Sickle Cell Disease, and find out why more blood donors are needed especially from different ethnic backgrounds.

Our stand is for all ages: meet and talk to scientists, get hands-on with science and creative activities, use our microscope to study blood cells up close, and test your knowledge in our quiz!

Three times a day (at 13:00, 14.30 and 16.30) we run the workshop Design for Sickle Cell: a creative workshop full of drawings and conversation. Join to learn about outcomes from a Sickle Cell design research project and engage in a fun interactive workshop. Come, play and learn!

Workshop

‘Design for Sickle Cell’ is an interactive research experience, hosted by Mary Adeturinmo who is completing her research project at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. Her research aims to gain insights from multiple perspectives to provide a deeper understanding of the impact of Sickle Cell Disease.

This workshop is inspired by Mary’s Master of Research in Healthcare and Design studies, where she has learnt to apply design thinking and system thinking to Sickle Cell Disease. Part of her practice is designing and facilitating interactive activities to engage stakeholders and advance the knowledge exchange about Sickle Cell. The workshop is open to all: adults and families are very welcome (please note there is limited capacity for each workshop – first come first served).

Join the workshop to engage with current research and learn about Sickle Cell Disease in a creative way!
