Abstract: We will summarize several recent advances made in the theory and algorithms for solving problems at the intersection of generalized variants of theSchrödinger bridge and stochastic control. We will provide the mathematical background, historical contexts, and the motivations behind the current resurgence of these ideas across different research communities, both in control and machine learning. We will explain some new results — theoretical and computational — and point to several directions that remain open.
