Biography – Dr Kevin Maringer

I am a molecular virologist and immunologist studying how virus-host interactions in mosquito vectors and vertebrate hosts drive arbovirus transmission, pathogenesis and emergence. I obtained my PhD in herpesvirus assembly in the lab of Prof Gill Elliott at Imperial College London. I then secured a Wellcome Trust fellowship to develop my dengue virus research programme in the labs of Prof Ana Fernandez-Sesma (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York) and Dr Andrew Davidson (University of Bristol). I established my own research group at the University of Surrey in 2016 and joined The Pirbright Institute in 2020.
