Pregnant women

We are excited to welcome Associate Professor Wendy Bennett from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to tell us about her work on the prevention and management of obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease in pregnant women who are at high risk.

A/Prof Bennett will discuss the importance of intervening during pregnancy to support and optimise the long-term health of women and their families, particularly those who are highest risk due to pregnancy complications. She will discuss her Healthy for Two/Healthy for You health coaching program, which is currently being trialled in prenatal care clinics across the US.

In her role as Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Women’s Health, Sex and Gender Research, A/Prof Bennett will also say a few words about the growth of the Centre since its establishment in 2007 and outline some of their accomplishments to date.

A/Prof Bennett will speak for about 40 minutes to allow plenty of time for questions afterwards.
