Online Workshop

As scientists, we’re well-versed in sharing our work with our peers through research papers, posters, and conference presentations. However, we are rarely taught how to communicate with non-specialist audiences.

Our upcoming online workshop, How To Write About Science, provides a practical toolkit to help bridge this gap, offering you a chance to learn and practice writing skills to craft compelling stories about science.

Join the session to learn:

• How to make complicated ideas easy to understand
• What goes into a science article, feature, or news piece
• How to use structure, style, imagery, and data effectively
• Practical tips on writing engaging headlines and introductions
• How to revise and edit your work
• How to find ideas for articles and successfully pitch them to publishers
• How to write for I,Science in our upcoming writing competition and beyond

ESE Writing Competition

This workshop will be delivered ahead of ESE’s Science Writing competition. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the skills and techniques learned during the workshop by submitting a piece of writing on a scientific topic of their choice.
