Abstract: Derived categories are one of the many topics you are likely to bump into if you read enough algebraic geometry. But, what are they? This talk will be an informal introduction to the concepts behind derived categories, their relevance in algebraic geometry, and a pointer towards some related research areas.

Some snacks will be provided before and after the talk.
