Inflammatory bowel disease illustration

An estimated one in ten people in the UK, and 5% of people around the world, are currently affected by an autoimmune disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease – the umbrella term for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Despite increasing prevalence, current treatments do not work for every patient and developing new approaches is difficult due to our incomplete understanding of what causes inflammatory bowel disease. In this seminar, two experts will talk about their research into prostate cancer, including new treatments and a new trial to identify the best approaches to early diagnosis, and answer your questions.

Professor Nick Powell is a Professor of Gastroenterology and Consultant in Gastroenterology at Imperial College London. Professor Powell will talk about the mechanisms responsible for mediating resistance to treatment in IBD.

Professor Ailsa Hart is Professor of Practice (Gastroenterology) at Imperial College London and Director of St Mark’s Hospital Inflammatory Bowel Disease Research and Consultant Gastroenterologist. Professor Hart will talk about her research on improving clinical outcomes for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
