This event is part of the Friday Forums, a series of events consisting of a panel followed by an audience discussion. It is a rule of the Forum that half of the time is given over to audience discussion. Do come along expecting to be involved in lively discussion and debate. All Friday Forums are free with lunch provided and are open to all Imperial members.
Join this Friday Forum for a congenial lunchtime discussion of one of the central themes of the life scientific, namely how we rank research and how we support scientific creativity. What is the role of ‘metrics’ in measuring scientific achievement? How have institutions widened their ‘criteria of success’ as they seek to celebrate the skills of their staff? And what are the aspects of science – the virtues – that lie at the heart of our craft, but which can prove so elusive to identify and replicate?
