Summary of talk:
An elevated number of circulating neutrophils is a poor prognostic factor for patients with Breast Cancer. We discuss the detection of changes in circulating neutrophils in patients with Early Breast Cancer prior to any therapeutic intervention. A variety of techniques were used including flow cytometry to assess changes in neutrophil surface marker expression, kinase assays to detect perturbations in neutrophil intracellular signalling and in vitro culture of neutrophils to identify changes in physiological state.
