Scholarships at Imperial

Scholarships help attract exceptional and ambitious individuals—no matter who they are, their background, or where they are from in the world—to come to Imperial and create real-world impact. When you donate to support scholarships, you can choose to help students with the most profound needs, international students or PhD students to immerse themselves at Imperial and help shape their future. With gifts of £35,000 or more, you can establish a full scholarship to support a student in a department of your choice. 

Imperial has a proud record of welcoming high-performing and talented students from different backgrounds and geographical locations. Being in London opens the path for Imperial students to get involved in endless opportunities in science, technology, engineering, medicine and business. Despite these advantages, studying in one of the most expensive cities in the world often comes with a financial burden, which can get in the way of talented students and their dreams.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. We want to welcome students from all backgrounds, so students from all walks of life can see themselves represented at Imperial. Despite our best efforts to make our campuses a diverse and inclusive space, we know there are still many people who think an Imperial education is beyond their reach. 

The high cost of living and studying in London means that there are many talented students with the aspiration to study at Imperial who are still deterred due to financial challenges. While rent in London has increased by 25% over the last four years, and living costs have soared, student loans have remained stagnant. Many students graduate with debts of over £75,000 with tuition and living expenses factored in. 

Scholarships can remove this financial barrier and encourage applications from students from backgrounds who might otherwise be less likely to go to top universities like Imperial. The financial support provides students with the resources to thrive during their time at university and beyond, enabling them to begin their professional lives debt-free.

Imperial is a destination of choice for the many exceptional students from around the world. Yet, the high costs of overseas tuition can deter many talented individuals from considering applying to Imperial in the first place.
