About the Team
The third edition of the Fighting Fast Fashion Challenge Team brought three Cloth Swaps event. People could bring their items and donate them in the bins placed around campus or on the day of the event. They then received swap credit based on how many items they brought in. If they didn't have anything to swap, they were able to purchase items for £1 each at the events. Traid and the British Heart Foundation provided the collection boxes. The three events were:-
- 26 February 2024 Clothing Swap: In collaboration with Evie Wright, the team organised their fist clothes swap during Sustainability Fortnight at Metric.
- 4 June 2024: Clothing Swap: the team organised a second swap at Metric with donations over the course of 3 weeks
- 4 June: Mending Workshop: With the help of a volunteer demonstrator, attendees had the opportunity to learn and practice several stitching and mending techniques and will also learn about some of the key challenges for sustainability in the fashion industry.
In total 490 items were collected, 140 items swapped, 94 items bought (£94 raised for charity), 256 items were donated to Traid and the British Heart Foundation.
