Scientists are among the most trusted messengers on climate change, but many scientists also feel a great deal of pressure when stepping into the public realm to communicate on this important, but complex, topic.
The Grantham Institute and Purpose Union have created a toolkit to help climate scientists share their expertise in meaningful and compelling ways. It provides practical tips and tools on how to communicate climate science persuasively within the context of wider debates about the climate.
The toolkit is intended for climate scientists who need to comment on or share perspectives about the likelihood and impact of global warming exceeding 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperatures. The guidance provides a foundation that scientists can build upon according to their own individual expertise and research specialisms.
