National Apprenticeships Week runs from 9 to 15 February 2026 and is a nationwide, week-long celebration of the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, employers and the wider economy. This year’s theme is Skills for Life, and we have several events and activities planned at Imperial to shine a light on how apprenticeships can develop the skills and qualifications you need to progress.

Applications will open for our Technician Apprenticeship Scheme, a four-year programme for new entrants that trains technicians to work in our world-class workshops and laboratories, contributing to the research and teaching that we do.
Data Academy Taster session, Excelling in Excel - 10.00 – 11.00 (Internal, MS Teams)
Interested in building your skills and confidence with data? Led by a Data specialist from Corndel, our training partner, this one-hour virtual session will cover the top five Excel functions, data structure and manipulation, and pivot tables. It is open to Imperial staff at all levels considering undertaking one of our Data Academy Apprenticeships.
Apprenticeship Celebration Event (this is a closed event, by invitation only)
A special, celebratory event for staff who have successfully completed an apprenticeship over the past year with Corndel, our training partner. More than 45 Imperial colleagues have gained qualifications at levels 3 to 7 in leadership, data analytics, and HR through apprenticeships.
Apprentice Showcase 13.30-14.30 (online)
This is an external event hosted by the National Technician Development Centre.
Hear from technical apprentices and apprentice managers across the NTDC network. This session will provide a unique opportunity to explore the world of apprenticeships through the experiences of both apprentices and their managers. It is a fantastic opportunity for prospective and current apprentices/managers and organisations to learn, connect, and celebrate the impact of technical apprenticeships.

10.00 – 11.00 (Internal, MS Teams)
This session will provide an overview of Imperial’s Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship Scheme and is for Departments at the university who would like to find out more and get involved. This rotational programme currently runs across the Departments of Chemistry and Bioengineering and is allowing us to build a new pathway into science technician roles at Imperial.

Hosted by Corndel, our apprenticeship training partner, this open session explores how effective data storytelling can bridge the gap between insight and action – transforming numbers into narratives that shape decisions, culture, and business impact. It may be of interest to Imperial staff considering our Data Academy Apprenticeships.
