FoNS Make-A-Difference

The FoNS Make-A-Difference (MAD) competition is open to all undergraduate students within the Faculty of Natural Sciences with students working in teams to develop low-cost technology that would have an impact on Society.

The Union's numerous societies and activities allow for broadening one's experience, social networking and leadership opportunities, as well as providing volunteering opportunities to gain valuable experience whilst helping others.

MathSoc

Imperial College Mathematics Society, in short MathSoc, is a student-run department society. They create opportunities for maths students and students from other departments who wish to join the maths community to interact with each other. They organise many social  and academic events to help make your university experience worthwhile.

PLUS!

PLUS! is an interactive problems group that meets at regular intervals throughout Term 1 and Term 2, usually at lunch time. Questions are prepared by academics in the department who join the students to puzzle and solve the problems set by their colleagues. If you enjoyed taking part in things like the Mathematics Olympiad, this is a group you may enjoy joining.

The UG Colloquium is a weekly lunchtime lecture series where undergraduate students present their research (e.g. UROP/projects/other independent research) to other undergraduates and members of the Department.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme

Students interested in mathematical research or entering academia can apply for the summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) to work alongside the research groups in the department. You'll learn more about what it means to do research full-time, and sometimes may able to participate in a project that leads to publication.

A personal and professional development programme aimed at women studying at Imperial.  It consists of a series of workshops designed to help you develop your enterprising idea. The programme includes high-profile speakers and tailored one-to-one mentoring.

Work Experience and Internship

Students are encouraged to use College breaks to enhance their CVs with internships and other work experience. Work experience and internships are an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience, learn transferable skills and improve skillsets for the workplace, professionally network and bolster your CV and career prospects.
