What we do
Our reseach focuses on (1) Intratumoral tumor heterogeneity in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer, (2) predicting surgical outcome in ovarian cancer surgery, and (3) implementing novel bioengineering advances in surgical success in ovarian cancer surgery.
Why it is important
Epithelial ovarian-cancer (EOC) is a heterogeneous disease with a high risk of development of platinum resistance conferring poor prognosis. A major challenge is the extensive intratumoral heterogeneity constituting a significant obstacle to the success of systemic and surgical therapeutic regimes. Our aim is to identify patterns of heterogeneity and correlate it with genomic profiling and recent bioengineering advances.
How it can benefit patients
By elucidating and defining the patterns of dissemination, relapse and resistance of epithelial ovarian cancer and stratifying patients to the treatment modalities that will truly benefit them. We are also directing patients who won't benefit from conventional treatment approaches to alternative strategies.
