What attracted you to that course?

I was excited about the combination of taught material versus experiential learning. I was hoping to learn some practical skills to take forward, but I knew that it would be beneficial to have a broad understanding of their applications.

What specific aspects of the teaching or course format did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed the six-month research project and the Grant Proposal modules the most. In both cases, I loved the combination of independent thinking and excellent execution expected of students. Both modules allowed me to improve my critical thinking skills and practical skills. Both modules made me a better researcher and student.

How do you think the course will impact your future career?

This course allowed me to shift my career towards research and inspired me to pursue a PhD in computational biology or genomics. I'm sure that I will carry the skills and relationships built in this program forward in my career.

Why did you choose Imperial College London?

I chose Imperial College London for its excellence in research and location.

What did you most appreciate about your time at Imperial?

I most appreciated the ability to form relationships with both long-term projects and researchers around me. It's rare beyond a PhD or the working world that I would be able to work with the same people on a project for six months. I appreciated the complexity of thought that was facilitated by studying alongside some of the best researchers in the field for that length of time.

What are you doing now?

I am about to start working at the Broad Insitute of MIT and Harvard. In the winter, I will be applying to PhD programs in the United States. I was introduced to my new PI by a PI who I met through my research project at ICL, and the results and nature of my research project will be incredibly helpful as I apply to graduate programs in the future.
